Tasha Cobbs, a native of Jesup and a pastor of
worship at the Dream Center Church in Atlanta, won her first-ever Grammy
for Best Gospel/Contemporary Music Performance for “Break Every Chain.”
Clad in a midnight blue gown, Cobbs accepted her award during the pre-telecast and dedicated it to her father.
Cobbs thanked “all of the voters who took a chance on a country girl from Jesup, Georgia.”
Most of Georgia’s other nominees didn’t fare as well during the pre-telecast, which was streamed live on Grammy.com.
Cobbs could have snagged a second award for Best Gospel Album (Bishop Paul S. Morton was also nominated) but Tye Tribbett won that award.
